CPI Case Files of 2009
CPI Case 021: Double Murder Scene Anderson, SC
In February of 2009, Co-Founder and Lead Investigator Dennis Carroll investigated a piece of Anderson history. The scene of a cold double murder case was revisited, researched and documented for any possible activity of a paranormal nature. This tragedy had taken place in 1983 and though it was a sad and ruthless incident, the curiosity of any paranormal imprint left behind was a possibility. The investigation was documented using an EMF tester, EVR, Video and photo. After reviewing all evidence, there was no conclusive outcome of this place being haunted. However, this case will be left open for perhaps a future full blown investigation. Any questions or concerns on this case please contact us.

CPI Case 023: Walpurgis Night 2009 Townville, SC
The Night of April 30th, Internationally known as Walpurgis Night. From our 2008 Investigation you can read up on Walpurgis Night, the legends behind that night, the mysteries, the un-explained highly occurred paranormal activity.... This year sneaked up on CPI, a traditional Walpurgis Night Investigation always take place with at least the 2 founders involved but this year we decided at the last minute to go separately. Dennis had a bonfire at his house and I did a follow up investigation an earlier case. Old Indian trails run straight through this area of SC and my house just so happens to be on that land. Go figure. The occurences that took place that night were reviewed, and the one thing that was captured was on camera. It had a shape of fairy. Hard to say for me because I believe in NO such thing. It was not an orb, and it was visible with the human eye for a split second before the flash of the camera. This piece of evidence was so hard to analyize and I just had to go by the old saying, when i doubt, throw it out. The Walpurgis night investigation of 2010 will take place at the same location because there has been many strange and unusuall occurances take place since the past year. Any question or for more info on this case contact me at 864-314-7292.

CPI Case 024: Private Location Athens, Tennessee
This home was built in the early 1840's by a known political family and stands empty today but under current ownership. Three of the family members that resided in the home passed away within its walls. During a preliminary investigation, a camcorder, digital camera, and an electronic voice recorder were used. There were several personal experiences:
* a growl or grunt noise was heard on the first floor during the initial walkthrough but not caught on EVR.
* while doing EVP work, the recorder with it's brand new 100% powered up batteries that I changed personally were drained within 5 minutes of trying to contact someone or something and the recorder stopped
* Also during the recording, shuffling on the first floor was heard so we quickly went downstairs to check it out. Nobody was there and this area is pretty secluded, if someone was there we would know. While going back upstairs we found a black marble on the landing between each set of stairs that was not noticed before hand, upon reviewing a videotape, that area was recorded before EVP work had started and there was not a marble present.
* On later review of the "short" electronic voice recording, a child's voice is heard saying "Mama" around the time of the shuffling and the appearance of the marble.
* The only other audio evidence is of a man groaning at the very beginning of the recording.
CPI plans to revist this location in the near future.
CPI Case 025: Long Cane Creek Indian Massacre McCormick, SC
November 7th 2009, Our first investigation with our new core group; we headed out to a little town called Troy, SC. This small town, full of history, held one of South Carolina's most brutal massacres. Known as the Indian Massacre, this horrible event in SC history took place on Feb. 1st 1760. A small group of 24 settlers were ambushed by the Cherokee indians, 23 of whom were brutally murdered. Included in this group of people were one of SC's most popular families of that time, the Norris'. But the one name that stood out of this group of people was Catherine Calhoun, age 76 was the grandmother of the United States 2nd Vice President, John C. Calhoun. The only survivor, Anna Calhoun who was the aunt of John C. Calhoun was taken prisoner by the Cherokee Indians for 14 years. Finally the state of SC and the Cherokee tribe came to an agreement and passed the Hopewell Treaty of 1785 freeing Anna from captivity.
This place was full of history and tragedy and CPI could not pass up this chance to investigate such a significant event in South Carolina history. On this case we had myself, Josh Pelfrey along with my co-founder Dennis Carroll, lead investigator in training, Bethe Martin, CPI's newest member Sean Chadwick, Case Manager Lisa Banaszak, and Tech Manager Dave Banaszak. Having perfect conditions for an outdoor investigation starting out we set up the equipment which included a Sony handycam on a tripod and 1 Trap camera surveillancing the perimeter. Going mobile with these and limiting to much of our evidence to video and photos, the weather conditions stayed pretty much the same, except the temp dropped to a chilly 41 degrees. This place had a certain vibe to it, it had the presence of history but no strong feeling of dread that we came to expect before the investigation. After reviewing the evidence, we have several photos that will be closely analyized by each member and discussed into great detail. Overall, this case went very well and CPI is looking forward to many more cases like this in the future. For any questions or concerns about this case or any others please feel free to contact me in anyway possible.
CPI Case 026: Ouija Board Incident, Halloween Night Anderson, SC
A rather worried young lady named Jade Clark contacted us about a possible case of demonic oppression. She and her friends were using a Ouija board on Halloween night, when some time into the session, they began to hear footsteps circling them in the shadows beyond the candle light surrounding them. Also at this same time, several windows in the house began to bang open and closed....although there was no wind that night or any kind of a breeze present. After these things occurred, the candles in the room started going out, one by one. They of course, immediately vacated the premises. Later that night and the following day, Miss Clark felt that a presence had followed her home and that it was still bothering her. She experienced banging noises that seemed to have no particular cause.....strange scratches on her back in a location on the lower back that would have been almost impossible to be self inflicted....(photo exists) and other strange movement of objects and personal items. She was of course very disturbed and nervous about all this, when she contacted us the next day. After explaining the danger of Ouija boards (aka witchboards)..we concluded that there was a possibility that a spirit or entity of some kind had followed her home and was in the act of oppression against her. A house blessing and prayers of protection were initiated and the problem seems to have been resolved to her satisfaction. At this time..... this case is closed.
CPI Case 027: Middleton Plantation, Charleston, SC
Middleton Place Plantation, is a very beautiful antebellum estate that fronts the Ashley River and that was destroyed by the Union army in the closing days of the Civil War. What remains are the one existing wing of the house, which is now a museum and miles of very beautiful gardens and walking trails. MIDDLETON PLACE is a National Historic Landmark and a carefully preserved 18th-century plantation that has survived revolution, Civil War, and earthquake. It was the home of four important generations of Middleton's, beginning with Henry Middleton, President of the First Continental Congress; Arthur, a signer of the Declaration of Independence; Henry, Governor of South Carolina and an American Minister to Russia; and Williams, a signer of the Ordinance of Secession. We did a walking tour and a photographic investigation, along with a tour of the museum, where unfortunately cameras and photos were not allowed. We heard of several paranormal sightings on the grounds of Yankee soldiers being seen... a phantom ship being heard on the river and of a lady in white being spotted along one of the shaded avenues near the Middleton family tomb. Although our photos showed no evidence....we definitely hold open a return visit to this beautiful and windswept place that undoubtedly holds many historic memories and times of a haunted past.
